Art Blog Post

1. What is your field? Photography.
2. Why are you working in this field?
Taking photos of the details I notice anywhere around me is my hobby.
3. What did go well last year? What didn't go well last year?
My painting board went well, I finished it on time but my art history didn't go well last year.
4. What are you planning to do differently?
I did a change of field which is Photography because I think I'll have more ideas when I choose what I really love doing.
5. What have your two brainstorms revealed so far?
It's a story of a wanderer who notices details to every place she goes. It also represents freedom and enjoying the moment. It also has a touch of nature.
I think it is really important to notice the details in everything because in some ways it gives us hope that no matter how chaotic the world can go, there is always that small detail that can represent hope and optimism.

These two are my own picture and I am looking for more photographers who take photos like this for inspiration and ideas.

6. Why did your teacher get you to make a digital mood board?
She gets us to make a digital mood board so that we can brainstorm our ideas early through inspirations from other artists. It can help us figure out our theme or story for our boards.
7. Identify something that is new to you from completing the mood board - like knowing about a particular artist for instance and making a connection now, to your kaupapa that is forming.
I have found a particular artist who's not familiar to me and he got the idea of my plan for my board through his artworks. His name is Peter Lik but I am still currently looking for more photographers who have a connection to my theme like how Lik's images connect with the idea formed in my mind. Also, I chose Peter Lik because the images he took were the images I would take if I am in the same place where he took his photos. His images were all about earth and nature and that is also part of my plan for my folio.

Here are 3 of Peter Lik's artworks:

1. Coastal Palette

2. Dream Catcher

  1. This is great, Princess, but you are going to have to alter your permissions on your own two photos. I love that you have found an artist who inspires you already.

Your kaupapa idea for a wanderer and noticing details is lovely. I would like you to narrow this down a little more as to what she finds and why it is important, possibly also an overall message would help draw this together. What do you think?
